This week's prompt is: waning moon.

You have until midnight your time on Friday, June 13, to answer this prompt. Please post your fills of the prompt as separate entries to the community (i.e. not replies to this entry), tagged with the prompt tag. You may post multiple standalone drabbles per entry in addition to drabble sequences and series.

As a reminder, this community has no official presence elsewhere. You are encouraged to share the prompt on social media, if you so desire. It may take me a bit to create the AO3 collection, so please be patient.

Also, I'm going to go ahead and drop a link to the prompt suggestions post here. New suggestions are always, always welcome.

Outcast fix-it, because it should have been Rodney there with John and everybody knows it. Also, lots of Dave, because never has there been a character with so much untapped potential as Dave Sheppard.

Since nothing interesting happened today have stories. Look I finished my [community profile] intoabar story. I'm not as happy with it as I was the one that came before it last year but it's still fun

Title: Somebody’s Eyes

Fandom: Hazbin Hotel/The Owl House

Character/Pairing: Edalyn Clawthorn/Raine Whispers, Angel Dust/Husk, Charlie Morningstar/Vaggie

Summary: Edalyn decides to take Raine and Lilith through the portal to revisit the people she met at the Hazbin Hotel on her last visit. They have even more fun than last time.

Rating: teen and up

Author Note - Written for my into a bar challenge for 2025. My challenge was exactly the same as last year so how could I not write a sequel? My challenge was Eda Clawthorne goes into a bar and meets... Niffty (Hazbin Hotel)! And if you want to see last year’s story (they’re stand alones but if you want to, please do) head here to read To Travel is To Live

Also written for the lyrical titles album challenge 2025 using the Footloose album and the song Somebody’s Eyes by Karla Bonoff. (I was thinking of all the eyes on things in both fandoms. I admit it, it’s a lame title).

Also written for spikesgirl58’s six word challenge. The six words were Repeat, Amuse, Official, Sword, Captivate, & Reform and for the allbingo prompt of Nonbinary

Almost the end of a decade in 1989. Revolutions, crackdowns, changes in power ... look, 1989 left a mark on my psyche. Evidently I was escaping into the cinema as much as I was to the roller rink, judging from me opening 20 tabs even with me being picky. Going to narrow that down some. Okay, 11 in the final cut.

Three sisters with abusive parents turn into three sisters with murdered parents and the police believing that one of them did it. Fast-forward a few years and Emma, now pregnant, returns to her childhood home with her husband and a lot of questions.

I didn't like this one as much as I liked Marshall's other books but it still was a good read. The description of their horrible childhood was bleak and claustrophobic, the way they lost each other after the murder very fitting. I also liked how they didn't really have an easy time with each other when they reunited, distrustful and yet loyal to each other in a strange way.

It's a pretty good and interesting take on three very different sisters dealing with abuse and the aftermath of a murder and I was happy with the ending. Also, the way they were so very different and what kept them trapped and how they freed themselves (or didn't) really worked.

I mostly post about: My journal is very new, i think I decided to make it because I was feeling a bit low and just wanted to write about my feelings and interests and hopefully find like-minded people. I'm also trying to make my web experience a more pleasant one, so I like looking at journals and personal websites. Indie web, small web, that kind of thing I yearn for so I might share things I find! But so far, I like to yap about my daily life and my practice in fighting games. I just started a fight log so I can hopefully more clearly see my progress! I will probably generally just talk about other things like anime, video games and maybe I'll post art or photos taken on my digicam. Also I'm queer and figuring things out still lmao

My hobbies are: Currently I'm focused in on fighting games (granblue rising, but I'm also a street fighter and guilty gear enjoyer), working on my art, vtubing, crochet and the smallest smattering of baby guitar when I can find time after all that. Other interests that can come back into my rotation is language study (Japanese and Spanish), miniature painting, nail art, weightlifting, snorkeling (I dream of scuba/free diving tho!)

My fandoms are:I'm not deep in any fandom at the moment but I enjoy content from sailor moon, granblue, guilty gear, general DnD stuff, hololive, vshojo and arcane. I'm also a huge Lady Gaga fan. And a lover of My Chemical Romance.

I'm looking to meet people who: I think are cool! I enjoy reading other people's day-to-day life and their passions, might get me excited about something new , too! If we hype over similar things that's a tasty cherry on top ;9

My posting schedule tends to be: aiming for at least a few times a week.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are: if you don't support LGBTQ+, if you excuse any wars, if you support generative AI, you know if you lean in those kinds of directions - please don't talk to me.

Before adding me, you should know: I'm sorry if my post was too long! And I might be using this as a form of therapy (cuz therapy is expensive) so if I do post something that's a bit heavier, I'll learn how to put it behind a cut and maybe make it friends only. But I think I'll try and keep cheery here! I'm still learning how to use this site

Oz: The monkey's the only cookie animal that gets to wear clothes, you know that?
Willow smiles brightly.
Oz: You have the sweetest smile I've ever seen.
Oz: (continues down the hall) So, I'm wondering, do the other cookie animals feel sorta ripped? Like, is the hippo going, 'Hey, man, where are *my* pants? I have my hippo dignity!'
Willow laughs.
Oz: And you know the monkey's just, (with a French accent) 'I mock you with my monkey pants!'

[pain] today's articulation

A significant part of the problem is that we only start saying "all pain is in the brain" (or "the tissue isn't the issue" or whatever) to people with complex or chronic pain.

And there's a good reason for that! It's the same reason that I need to have a much more detailed idea of the fine detail of what an atom is and how it behaves than the vast majority of the population, for whom the Bohr model is perfectly adequate!

... and we need to explain that, we need to explain why we don't tell people with simple acute pain that All Pain Is In The Brain -- it's not because it's any less true for them, it's just that for most people most of the time they don't need to worry about that level of detail. But if you don't explain that, it sure do sound a lot like "your pain isn't real (unlike those people over there)".

Lies-to-children. That. That thing. That's a thing I need to explain.

++ The murder of indigenous actor Jonathan Joss (King of the Hill, Parks and Recreation) is absolutely tragic and devastating, but even more so is the aftermath of the police outright denying that it was a hate crime despite eyewitnesses and his own husband saying so from the homophobic threats and attacks sent to them. Fortunately, in a surprising turn of events they have recently backtracked on this statement have apologized for making such a rushed conclusion without a proper formal investigation, which accountability by the police is very rare to come by. However, to be honest the pessimistic side of me knows that if this had just been a random person they wouldn't have bothered to care, but since this was someone in the entertainment industry and has been gaining a lot of public attention and outrage so quickly they had to admit fault to prevent further backlash. Regardless though, it's still horrible and I hope the murderer (who admitted to the crime, though released on bail) get severely punished and his husband and family get justice.

++ While I haven't been watching Doctor Who, hearing what happened in the latest season finale really confirmed by concerns about RTD returning as showrunner. Overall, I just feel sad for Ncuti Gatwa.

++ Blumhouse Productions acquires rights to the Saw franchise from Twisted Pictures.

Earlier it was reported that the production into Saw XI, which was supposed to have been released later in the year, was halted due to inter-conflict between creators about the future of the franchise, leaving an indefinite question mark. It seems that this was the reason and result of whatever behind-the-scenes disagreements and negotiations were happening. The series is now back under James Wan, as well. Whether or not he'll be directing is unknown, but he'll no doubt be part of the creative process. Although reports claim that there's no movie in production yet, I highly suspect that whatever was planned for Saw XI will resume shortly. I do want it to be a continuation from Saw X since while it did conclude nicely, there were a few loose ends that can be explored, but if nothing else having Tobin Bell continue to reprise his role will always be a treat. Plus, I would love for there to be movies similar to that of Spiral, where John Kramer isn't directly involved but is still a huge influence to other characters and events.

Decided today to go to the Drexel Museum of Natural History. But Avi was interested too, yet couldn't go today. Decided on the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History. Close enough to walk to, if I wanted a brisk 20 minute walk in dew point 20 C weather. Easy bike, but taking my bike raises concerns about leaving it locked for hours in Center City. So went to Indego bikeshare, and an ebike, partly because that's all the station had. Read more... )
