A couple random things about Winter Soldier

No thinky metanalysis here; I mostly just wanted to say how surprised I am at the extent that this movie's gotten under my skin and kept me thinking about it, because I'm not really into the Captain American franchise generally -- while I enjoyed the previous Captain America movie a lot more than I thought it was going to, it was probably my least favorite of the movies leading up to Avengers. (Well, except the Hulk ones, which were instantly forgettable ...)

But this one really sucked me in. I happen to have a huuuuge narrative kink for two of the movie's central tropes -- "brainwashed into killing your friends" and "unjustly accused and on the run; trust no one!" And I just basically really liked everyone in the movie. I also really loved that it was so ensemble-focused that it really felt like another Avengers movie, one that just didn't happen to have all the Avengers in it ... as opposed to Iron Man 3, which I adored, but which was very clearly Tony's story, while this one is a lot more concerned with the larger Avengersverse mythos.

Question:

In the early scenes with Nick Fury, he asks the computer who security-protected the data and it answers that he did, which seems to come as a surprise to him. I'd taken that scene as a "tell" that there was mind control or time travel involved, or that this wasn't really Fury. But, as it turned out, there was nothing of the sort happening. So what was going on there? Your thoughts?

And a prediction (based on comics, not on anything I've heard about the movies):

What are the odds that Cap3 is going to be the Death of Captain America movie, with Bucky assuming Steve's costume/identity? DISCUSS!
