sholio: (Books)
The Warchild snippets I mentioned in my last post are making me go back and reread the books -- not cover to cover, just spot-reading to get context for the vignettes, but it's reminding me how much fondness I have for these characters. ♥

Particularly Cairo Azarcon. When I read the books the first time, I imprinted heavily on Jos and Niko in the first book, but I think the more time I had to reflect on the series, the more I adored Cairo, who's probably my favorite character in the series now. And reading the missing scene I linked to in the last post made me realize something about him that I don't think I'd consciously thought about before, which is that he's a not-uncommon character type who's shown at a stage of life that we almost never see for that character type at all.

Light spoilers for the first two books )
sholio: Peter from White Collar, in a suit, smiling (WhiteCollar-Peter smiling)
The thought occurred to me today that if I watched a White Collar episode a day, a rewatch would take me right about to the start of the new season (give or take a couple weeks). I ... am sort of tempted to do this. Sort of. It would be interesting to see Season 4 in context before getting into Season 5, since I was watching week-to-week and have only seen the episodes once. On the other hand, I wanted to rewatch A:tLA also, or it might be nice to watch something new instead.

Contrary to what my blog might suggest, I just don't really watch a whole lot of TV. I have not seen an episode of a TV show since May (aside from occasionally watching an out-of-context favorite scene or two from something I've already watched). I'm starting to miss it.

On the other hand, it's not like I'm spending my time wisely. I waste it on the Internet instead.

Including, now, Twitter. I have been spending WAY too much time on Twitter. It IS true, however, that I've finally found a dumping place for all the links I collect through the course of the day. Used to be I'd leave them sitting open in a tab, meaning to write a blog post about it, but I'd never get around to it -- so I'd have the tab open for days, then give up and quit the browser taking all the tabs with it. Now I just dump it into a Twitter post, close the window and forget about it. (I'm @layla_in_alaska if that sounds like your kind of thing ...)
