That Which is Broken, part 4

I'm presently aiming for 12 chapters as a general target number. It may be slightly more or less.
Title: That Which is Broken
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Characters: Team fic, Teyla POV (at least at first), Sheppard/McKay friendship
Rating/warnings/pairings: Gen, no pairings. Probably about a PG-13.
Season/spoilers: Takes place right after Trinity. Spoilers for that ep and probably, as we go along, a few mild ones for earlier eps.

( Afghanistan in the winter... )
Would you believe that proofing this chapter was the first time I ever realized that Sheppard's friend who died in Afghanistan apparently shares a name with Ronon? I'd typed it without really thinking; then in the proofing stage, I looked at that and thought, "No, I must be remembering wrong." ... but I went and checked the transcripts from "Home", and yeah, his name appears to be Dex. Weird.
