I'm doing random computer housekeeping tasks (cleaning up tabs, getting stuff off my desktop, etc), and feel like playing a bit while I do it, so here's a meme seen on a few people's journals -
Pick a fandom and I'll tell you...
- The first character I fell in love with:
- The character who is my ‘baby’:
- The character who I do not understand:
- The character that I think the show ruined:
- The most attractive male and female character:
- The character death that was the worst for me:
- The character that is the most like me:
- The character I think the writer(s) love:
- The character that I just want to be happy:
- My four favorite characters, past or present:
- My four least favorite characters, past or present:
Anything that I've seen/read enough of to be at least vaguely familiar with the characters is fair game.
Fandoms done so far: White Collar, Dresden Files, Carnivale, MCU, Person of Interest, Highlander, Stargate Atlantis, Marvel 616, Avatar: The Last Airbender, X-Men movies

- The character who is my ‘baby’: Thomas, in the sense that I adore him and perk up whenever he's on a page; Harry, because his life is AWFUL and he's such a sweetheart and I just want everyone to pet him and feed him soup and wrap him in blankets.
- The character who I do not understand: Elaine. I still feel like she's way more of a blank spot than she should be. She feels like she's defined mostly by Harry's memories of her than by her presence in the books.
- The character that I think the
showbooks ruined: Susan, at least to an extent. She starts off appearing to be a main character, and then she totally disappears for like 10 books and shows up with Harry's school-age daughter and dies. W. T. F.- The most attractive male and female character: Thomas obviously for the male one - it's one of his defining features! It's harder to say for female characters, since it's not a visual medium, and most of the women in Harry's world are really good looking, at least from Harry's slightly biased POV.
- The character death that was the worst for me: Meryl, way back in Book 4. I don't know why; that was just a really hard death to get over. Although Susan's death runs a close second, mostly because it was so incredibly traumatic for Harry.
- The character that is the most like me: ... you know, I'm not sure if there is anyone that I really identify with.
- The character I think the writer(s) love: I don't really get the impression that the author has a favorite, at least not in the sense that anyone warps the narrative around them. It is, however, very obvious that Butcher has a thing for kickass blonde women.
- The character that I just want to be happy: HARRY. OH GOD, HARRY.
- My four favorite characters, past or present: Thomas, Harry, Murphy, Michael (+ Molly + Mouse because how can I pick just four, c'mon)
- My four least favorite characters, past or present: Marcone, Mab, Nicodemus ... can't really think of a fourth ... (And Mab is reluctantly growing on me, but I'm still holding a grudge for her abuse of Harry.)

- The first character I fell in love with: Tony
- The character who is my ‘baby’: Buckyyyyyy
- The character who I do not understand: Bruce. I should probably watch the Hulk solo movies, because I just don't really feel like I get him at all.
- The character that I think the show ruined: Coulson, because he was a great supporting character, but the more I saw of him as a main protagonist, the more turned off I got (Jack Harkness syndrome ...) and now even his movie appearances are tainted by that. I hate to say it now, but I kinda wish they'd left him dead.
- The most attractive male and female character: Steve and Natasha
- The character death that was the worst for me: I'm kind of resentful over Victoria Hand, even though I haven't actually seen the episodes of SHIELD that she's in, because now I'm starting to really like her in the comics - she's such a fun antagonist/reluctant ally - and she's DEAD and grarrr!
- The character that is the most like me: .... hmmm, actually I think Steve is the character I identify with the most heavily, because of the artist thing and the quiet way he relates to people.
- The character I think the writer(s) love: Tony, probably - he gets all the best lines! But it's impossible to be bothered by that, because hey, he's TONY!
- The character that I just want to be happy: Bucky (in the comics too - HONESTLY CAN THEY LET HIM BE HAPPY FOR FIVE MINUTES)
- My four favorite characters, past or present: As always, I absolutely CANNOT contain myself to four! Bucky, Steve, Tony, Pepper, Natasha, Sam, Nick Fury, Darcy, Melinda May
- My four least favorite characters, past or present: Basically bad guys, as usual - Ward, Pierce, Obadiah Stane, Red Skull

- The first character I fell in love with: Sokka
- The character who is my ‘baby’: Zuuuuuuko ♥
- The character who I do not understand: Ty Lee. I like her okay, but I really have trouble wrapping my brain around how she thinks.
- The character that I think the show ruined: Azula, at least in the sense that I absolutely hated the end of her story arc. I really wish they let her go out tough and bad, not broken down, crying and insane.
- The most attractive male and female character: Zuko and ... you know, there is not really a female character who jumps out at me here. I am gonna go with Lin, who I know is from Legend of Korra, but LIN!
- The character death that was the worst for me: Yue (though I suppose in some sense, she didn't really die ...)
- The character that is the most like me: Katara, probably
- The character I think the writer(s) love: hmmm, I don't really get that feeling off anyone
- The character that I just want to be happy: Aang
- My four favorite characters, past or present: As always, can't pick four - Zuko, Katara, Toph, Sokka, Aang, Iroh (and since I seem to be adding Korra, also Lin and Asami)
- My four least favorite characters, past or present: Ozai, Earth King Kuei, Azula, whatever the name of the general in the first story arc is ... (and several Korra characters; I have Strong Opinions on a number of those ...)

I'm of two minds about Azula. One, I do not like the equation of mental illness and evil that is so common in media. Azula feeds into that. Also, I don't like the breaking of such a terrifying female villain. On the other hand, it was an excellent depiction of a the kind of severe Narcissistic Rage that I like to call the Narcissistic death spiral, in which the Narcissist can no longer sustain their self image.

- The first character I fell in love with: movie!Wolverine, which is REALLY IRONIC considering how I feel about him now
- The character who is my ‘baby’: Mystique - she didn't start out that way, but then we got bb!Mystique in First Class, and ... yeah
- The character who I do not understand: I don't really know if there is one, although there are a lot of characters who haven't really been onscreen enough to be more than mysteries - but it doesn't feel like they're incomprehensible, just not around enough to get a read on who they are. Over on the LJ side I listed comics!Charles as the character I don't understand in the comicsverse, but I feel like I have a much better grasp on movie!Charles (getting two movies of his younger years helped a lot with that, I think ...)
- The character that I think the show ruined: Rogue - it frustrates me that they basically rolled Rogue and Kitty into the same character, but lost all of Rogue's defining character traits while keeping her powers, which means we won't ever get the comics version of Rogue in the movies.
- The most attractive male and female character: the Patrick Stewart version of Professor X (I mean ... Patrick Stewart), Blink
- The character death that was the worst for me: Darwin in First Class, because it was just so gratuitous, and the movies already have enough problems with diversity; did they really have to go there?
- The character that is the most like me: hmmm, Jean perhaps
- The character I think the writer(s) love: Wolverine. And how.
- The character that I just want to be happy: Mystique (preferably in a non-evil capacity)
- My four favorite characters, past or present: Magneto, Charles (Patrick Stewart version), Mystique, Nightcrawler
- My four least favorite characters, past or present: Wolverine, due to overexposure mostly. And I go back and forth on how I feel about young!Charles.
FK in Meme
Well, Forever Knight, then! :-)
Re: FK in Meme
- The character who is my ‘baby’: Schanke
- The character who I do not understand: I don't know if there's anybody on the show I really feel this way about, although some of the characters have little enough screen time that there's not a lot to go on. I dislike Lacroix in a major way, but I don't think he's hard to understand.
- The character that I think the show ruined: ohhhhh how about nearly everyone in season three. "Ruined" is probably harsher than my actual feelings on it, but this is one of the only shows where I quietly choose to pretend a large segment of canon never happened, because I fell in love with the show as a redemption story, and was really NOT happy with where it went.
- The most attractive male and female character: Nick and Janette
- The character death that was the worst for me: It's sort of a toss-up between Schanke in "Black Buddha", and EVERYONE in late season three - Schanke's death was by far the more painful and shocking (... ahaha, I typed "schocking") because it was so completely unexpected, but the sheer unfairness of killing off everybody except the main villain still galls me to this day.
- The character that is the most like me: Natalie
- The character I think the writer(s) love: Lacroix
- The character that I just want to be happy: Nick
- My four favorite characters, past or present: Nick, Nat, Schanke, Cohen
- My four least favorite characters, past or present: Lacroix, Lacroix, Lacroix, and also Lacroix. (I never really bonded with the new characters in season three because I unfairly resented them for taking screen time from my favorites and was also pretty thoroughly burned on the show at that point, but NOTHING comes close to my loathing for Lacroix.)
Re: FK in Meme
Yes, somehow the story fundamentally turned on itself in third season, attacking the very things that made it so grand, so different, so smart.
>"The most attractive male and female character: Nick and Janette"
Curses on the heads of the nitwits who declared that Janette and Schanke were insufficiently attractive for the move to the USA network and must therefore be replaced with Vachon and Tracy.
No offense to Vachon and Tracy -- or Schanke, for that matter -- but anyone who finds Janette insufficiently attractive...!
