Awwwwwwwww. ♥ ♥ ♥

I am pretty much okay with this! If I have any complaints, it's that I feel like the comic didn't really capture the real scope and threat of two clashing armies on the brink of war -- rather than a cast of thousands, it felt more like a cast of dozens, with weird pauses now and then (like when Aang goes off to meditate). Even though the art was gorgeous!

But I loved the character stuff. I loved that all the characters had good, sympathetic reasons for being on different sides of the conflict; I am such a sucker for conflicts in which there isn't really a "wrong" side, just good people trying to do their best and butting heads because of it (or, you know, almost starting wars, as the case may be). I am massively impressed that Aang and wise!advisor!Roku were actually wrong (but, again, had good reasons for it). And I just want to cuddle everyone at the end, especially Zuko and Aang -- Zuko being all amazed that he's actually right, and Aang feeling like he's a bad avatar because he can't bring himself to kill his friend/only-family-left-in-the-world (but, in the end, being kinda-sorta okay with that -- he'd rather be a bad avatar than a bad friend).

I basically feel like I got everything I want from A:tLA out of this comic: it was warm and sweet and dealt sensitively with a very complicated, emotionally fraught issue. And it pushed my Zuko + Aang friendship buttons like whoa. ♥

I ... I don't know how to feel about the last couple of pages, though. On the one hand: yay for possibly finding out about Zuko's mom! On the other hand ... I have issues with Azula (how she was handled in the show, and how she's handled in the fandom) and I'm worried that the next miniseries is totally going to bring up those issues. I have massive confidence in A:tLA to handle just about everything in a satisfactory way except Azula. *facepalm* But there will be Ursa, and it looks like tons of Zuko + Aang interaction again, and I am totally going to be there, if with a certain amount of nervousness.
