Agent Carter commentfics

I did a round of prompt fics on Tumblr for this delightful thing: a whump wheel. You "spin" it; a prompt comes out. (Rebloggable Tumblr post.) It's pretty great for prompts. I offered to do any previously written fandom and got a bunch of Agent Carter ones, so here are those. I'll put up the ones for other fandoms shortly.

1. Slammed into wall.

Slammed into wall, Agent Carter? ;)

Daniel realized what Peggy was about to do just as she started to do it, and made a grab for her, but there was too much space between them, the crutch got in the way, and his hand closed on empty air inches from her sleeve. A minute later she had grabbed Jack's collar and slammed him into the wall of the office.

Jack looked astonished, as well as scuffed up and soot-smudged, but made no effort to fight back. "This isn't the greeting I was expecting," he said. "What's the matter, was your paycheck late this month? Did your employee review-- oof." She shoved him back against the wall again, knocking the breath out of him.

"You absolute idiot," Peggy said between her teeth. "Until a minute ago, we thought you were dead. You could have called instead of walking back to the office--"

"Peggy," Daniel said, having finally managed to get there and put a hand on her arm. "You're going to crack his ribs or something."

"I think my ribs might be cracked, actually," Jack said in a slightly strangled voice.

Peggy let him go immediately. Jack carefully peeled himself off the wall. Daniel offered him a clean handkerchief; with a raised eyebrow, Jack took it.

"You're a mess," Daniel explained.

Jack swiped at his hair and looked at the handkerchief as it came away sooty. "Oh, well, you try having a building fall on you and see how clean you are after..."

The entire sequence of events seemed to catch up with him at that point. He wobbled a little. Peggy caught him with a hand under his elbow and steered him to a chair.

2. Insomnia

peggysous, insomnia ❤️

"Working the night shift, Peggy?"

Peggy looked up in surprise. It was after midnight, and she had thought she was alone at the SSR office. Even now that the men of the New York office had stopped dumping all their paperwork on her, there was still a lot to do and it was far easier to get it done at night. Maybe, she had thought, a few hours of filing would quiet her mind enough that she might be able to sleep.

But she hadn't expected to see Daniel there.

"Just getting some work done," she said, aiming for a light tone. "You?"

"Same." He smiled. "Let me know if you need anything."

He limped to his desk and settled into it.

As Daniel rolled a sheet of paper into his typewriter, Peggy found herself watching him. She still didn't know entirely where they stood with each other in the wake of the Midnight Oil fiasco. They were closer than they had been, but she wasn't sure that they were close enough for an intimate conversation. But she could see the same traces of sleepless nights on him that she saw in her own mirror -- the pallor of weariness, the slight tremor of his hand on the typewriter.

The war was still very close for all of them, and it didn't take much to bring it all rushing back.

Peggy got up from her chair. Daniel glanced up.

"I was just thinking I'd make us some coffee," she explained.

"You don't have to do that anymore," Daniel pointed out.

"I know," Peggy said. She smiled at him. "I don't mind."

3. Barely conscious

I got barely conscious. And of course I'd love some agent carter

"He's in and out," the SSR agent on guard duty at the door of Jack's hospital room told Peggy, when she arrived to relieve him. "Hasn't said anything helpful about who shot him. Not really all there, you know?"

"It's all right, Halford. Thank you."

Between the two of them, she and Daniel had come up with a handful of trustworthy men who they could be reasonably confident weren't involved in Vernon's conspiracy or the hit on Jack. Peggy trusted in Daniel's knowledge of his people, but for the most part she didn't know them, and she felt her shoulders relax a little as Halford left and she let herself into Jack's room.

The room was dim. Peggy turned on a reading lamp and settled herself beside the bed. Daniel was getting some sleep; he'd said he would relieve her at midnight. The trick was going to be to keep herself awake until then.

She had brought some light reading with her: case files and maps of the hotel. As she studied them, she had to fight not to drift.

A soft moan from beside her snapped her out of what she realized was a light dose.

"Jack?"

She leaned over him as his eyelids fluttered. He had come close to waking before, but this time his eyes half opened and fastened on her. His lips moved a little. "Peggy," he whispered.

A rush of relief went through her, staggering in its intensity. It was one thing for the doctors to say he would probably wake up, that there was likely no brain damage from blood loss. But seeing the evidence for herself made it abruptly real and left her feeling off balance, as if she had been leaning into a high wind that had suddenly faded.

"Yes. It's me. Do you want a drink of water?"

Jack still seemed dazed, but he nodded a little. She propped up his head with her hand and helped him sip from the glass on the nightstand. As she let his head back down, he murmured, "Now I know I'm dead. Carter's hand-feedin' me."

"There is to be no hand-feeding around here, thank you," Peggy said tartly, shoring herself up with the usual irritation that Jack provoked in her. "You'll be perfectly capable of managing your own feeding in a day or two."

"Okay, that sounds more like you," Jack mumbled.

He was out again a minute later, but this time she felt much more confident that he would wake again. She settled back to her paperwork with a renewed energy.

4. Whipped

agent carter + whipped?

"Oh, Jack," Peggy sighed, undoing the bindings holding him to the wall.

"Don't 'oh Jack' me, you make it sound like my fault."

But his voice cracked. He was stripped to the waist, his bare back bloody. Peggy tried to be careful, but he grunted in pain as she let his arms down, and swayed as he lost the support of the wall. Peggy matter-of-factly leaned into his side and put one of his arms over her shoulders, taking some of his weight. The height difference was awkward, and she started to put an arm around him and then jerked it back when he hissed in pain. He had to fist his hand in the shoulder of her jacket to keep himself upright.

"I knew you just wanted to get me naked," Jack said between his teeth.

"If that's how you're going to be, the next time I will leave you chained to the wall until the SSR gets here."

But she guided him carefully outside and helped him sit down, and very gently draped her jacket over his shoulders while they waited for the approaching sirens.

5. Shot with an arrow

Tumblr link: https://sholiofic.tumblr.com/post/717076241959780352/cuppatealove-i-got-caved-in-or-as-a-back-up

I got 'caved in'! Or, as a back up, 'shot with arrow' 😆. Agent Carter, naturally.

"How do you get yourself into these things, Sousa?"

Daniel cracked an eye open and said through gritted teeth, "Shut up, Jack."

The arrow had gone through the fleshy part of his shoulder, protruding about a foot and a half. Jack had suggested cutting it off. Daniel told him where he could stick his arrow if he tried. ("The arrow, Sousa, not the arm." "I know what you meant and the answer is still no.") Peggy got him to lie down, wrapped her scarf around the shoulder to try to prevent more bleeding, and then was off to get help before Jack had the chance to suggest that maybe he could get help and Peggy could sit with an injured Daniel. But nope.

"At least it's not the crutch shoulder," Jack said, trying to look on the bright side.

"Oh, yeah, no, that's great, so I don't have the use of my dominant hand."

"I'm trying to be helpful."

Daniel suggested some other things he could do to be helpful, which Jack magnanimously chose to ignore. Instead he took off his jacket. Daniel opened his eyes again in alarm when Jack draped it over him.

"Peggy will kill me if you die on my watch," Jack explained. "And you're shivering."

"That's pain, Jack," Daniel said, closing his eyes again. But he was shivering a little less.

6. Passing out from pain

Tumblr link: https://sholiofic.tumblr.com/post/717460466026299392/hello-love-i-took-my-shot-at-spinning-the-whump

I took my shot at spinning the whump wheel, and I got passing out from pain. If you are willing, could I have some agent carter or Falcon and the Winter Soldier?

Jack woke up on Peggy's couch. He knew it was hers because there was no mistaking that perfume, and he had seen that ceiling before.

"Oh, you're awake," Peggy said brightly from somewhere nearby.

Jack threw his arm over his eyes. The couch dipped under him as someone sat on the edge of it. He cracked an eye open cautiously under his arm.

"I have painkillers and a glass of water here," Peggy said. "Once they take effect, there's coffee."

"Made by you? I'll pass."

But he very carefully levered himself upright, trying not to move his legs too much. Especially the casted right one.

"And then," Peggy said, handing him the glass and the tablets, "then we'll talk about you trying to walk on a broken leg."

"Let's not, actually."

"Oh, no, actually let's," Daniel called from the general vicinity of Peggy's kitchen.

Jack managed not to choke on the painkiller tablets, but only just barely. "Why is he here?" he said between his teeth when he stopped coughing.

"Because having you laid up with a leg injury is making my day," Daniel said, limping out of the kitchen with a dish towel in one hand. At this point he moved around Peggy's house or other familiar places with nothing but a cane for support, a fact which Jack was both appreciating more than he had before as a technical feat, and was also very jealous of.

"First of all, I didn't walk on a broken leg, I tripped while trying to apprehend a criminal. What happened to Fogerty, by the way?"

"Oh, he's in custody," Peggy said. "Honestly, Jack, we thought he shot you."

"Shut up."

"I think that's her way of trying to say she was worried," Daniel said, leaning a hip against the couch. "Do I need to remind you how many times I've tripped in the line of duty, by the way?"

"Shut. Up."

"Because it's none, Jack. None."

Honestly, though, he could easily read the worry under the teasing, not that it stopped him from complaining when Peggy insisted on poking at his toes to make sure he was still getting circulation. ("And when did I miss you getting your medical degree, Doctor Carter?") But she actually did bring him coffee and also a package of cookies (pre-baked in paper, but it was oddly sweet), and Daniel hung around to chat about the case and also poke occasional fun at Jack's inadequate crutching skills. It was the good kind of medicine. Second only to strong painkillers, which Peggy had also given him, so he'd give her full credit for that.

Actually, maybe he was getting a little loopy. "I think I'll just lay here for a while," he said, finding himself flat on the couch without any real memory of how he'd gotten here.

"Good night, Jack," Daniel said, pulling a blanket over him.

You can leave me one if you like!

a) I have done enough Agent Carter, so please don't request that. (Unless it's all you want, but be aware that I may not feel like writing it.)

b) I may not write whatever you ask for, and it's not you, it's just what I'm feeling like writing at the moment.

But other than that, feel free to spin the wheel and pick a fandom I've written before. Or, if you hate the result you got or it doesn't fit your fandom at all, just pick something you like better!)

I'll post the non-AC ones soon.
