(no subject)

I'm back from the wilds of Alaska, back to ... *looks out window* the other wilds of Alaska. But at least these wilds have DSL! And, OMG, my inbox is bulging. It's so hilarious ... I almost never get unsolicited business emails (that I actually want) and, naturally, as soon as I leave, they're exploding -- a publisher wants to reprint one of my articles (and pay me for it!), there's a distributor interested in my books, a writer friend wants me to beta something for her, my day job has gone completely nuts, and of course there's a million billion LJ comment notifications, not to mention the edits on the Big Bang story ... HALP.

Of course, what I'm doing RIGHT NOW is downloading Seed, naturally. ^_^

I'll be slowly working my way through various emails and comments, so if I haven't replied to you and you're wondering what happened, please be patient ... I'm getting there.

You're back! earlier than expected! Naye will be very relieved ^__^

Enjoy The Seed! (And then get to work! and, uh, sorry about the edits-flood, that must be a fair number of emails ^^;;;)

I don't think she ought to be THAT relieved, because, god, I have so many irons in the fire right now...! Work is HELL. I supervise seven employees, which is basically the minimum that is needed to do all the work in our department easily. With six, we can scrape by, but it's hard. We had just replaced somebody, so she's brand-new and completely untrained, and then TWO of the others quit while I was gone (for different reasons). Right now I'm just flailing and trying to figure out how on earth we're going to get through the next few weeks. Needless to say, fanfic is taking a backseat to RL at the moment. (Though, tonight, I'm just answering LJ comments, reading your concrit emails, and NOT THINKING ABOUT WORK or my head will explode.)

Ackkk. Wow, that sucks like a giant space vacuum. *hugs*

Obviously, I don't want the fic to stress you further. Spend whatever time you want on it, but don't worry about it otherwise.

Gaaah that sucks! Never rains but it pours?

...well, at least you actually weren't eaten by a bear? (want to see those pictures! ^^)

Whooooooo, you're back!! And you didn't get eaten by bears! \o/ I'm very relived.

Don't worry about the edit mails! I can sum things up for you later. Enjoy The Seed! ♥

And you didn't get eaten by bears! \o/

But not for lack of effort on the bears' part! One of them tried to climb in the window! I just had to laugh, thinking of you telling me not to get eaten, because the last time a bear tried to get into our house, I was probably six years old. It really doesn't happen that often! But it happened this time. I took pictures! Wildly blurry pictures, though, because during the actual action, I was scrambling away.

ASHJKghjkhgjksdhjkdgshkjl BAD BEAR!!!

...I'm very, very glad you didn't get eaten. Yes. That is GOOD. And you took pictures while it happened?! UM. Okay. Alaska is scary. XD

How - uh. How did you make the bear GO AWAY? Or did it simply give up when it couldn't get through the window?

How did you make the bear GO AWAY?

BWAH. You'll love this. My mom and stepdad opened a window, and hit it in the head with sticks of wood until it let go and ran away. XD

It tried to get into the house through a window that doesn't open, then went for the bird feeder, which is (or rather, was) fastened to the neighboring window, which has an opening panel. So at that point, it was clinging to the side of the house and happily narfing on the contents of the bird feeder, when suddenly people started hitting it with sticks and it got a WTF? sort of look, jumped off the side of the house and ran away. It was really a very small bear. We all felt kind of sorry for it.

The point where the window was open, with NOTHING between us and the bear but a couple of sticks, was the point where I decided that I probably would feel better taking pictures from VERY FAR up the stairs ... which is why I didn't get any pictures of the best part of the whole thing, which was the part where my mom was whacking it with a foot-long stick of wood.

...

That is... TERRIFYING, yet HILARIOUS.

I'm laughing, but flailing a little because OMG BEAR THROUGH THE WINDOW.

Alaska is a mad, crazy place full of bears out to plunder your bear feeders bird feeders!! And then you felt sorry for it. Awww!

Seriously, though. Hitting it with STICKS OF WOOD?! XDD

Well. It worked. Which is good. Yep.

Does that mean you haven't seen The Seed yet? Oh my!

*sits back and waits for flailing* :D

Hee! :D

I enjoyed it, but ... not as much as I should have? I think I'm just too wound up and stressed out by RL right now to really lose myself in the show. But, I am simply delighted for the Sheppard-whump people this season, really I am. You guys are getting an awesome season so far. :D

And there was lots to like about the episode. They've really been doing a nice job this season of throwing in a little something for everybody.

[identity profile] alipeeps.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
I can well imagine that you're stressed just from reading your summary of your inbox alone!

I did enjoy the episode, though obviously the awesome Shep whump would have made this a fave for me even if the rest was awful! I still can't quite believe what a treat the first two eps have been for the Shep whumpers.. not just the amount of whump but the quality and severity! Impalements (x2!!) convulsions, triage, multiple infirmary scenes! :D *dies*

I think what's been great about Season 5 so far (aside from the whump! :D) is the teaminess - both the episodes have a) been really good ensemble stories with everyone involved and well utilised and b) had lots of nice character moments that really show the bond and friendship between the team. Lovely stuff. :D

It's not just you; "The Seed" left most of us a bit cold, though it had some fun parts. But it was a Mullie ep so you can't expect much - have higher hopes for what's to come!

[identity profile] kristen999.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
But Mullie is a bit better than Joe M.....lol...Why are the show runners the worst writers?

I still have high hopes that stats will come into play for us and "Broken Ties" will break the scale. I mean "Intruder" was like season 2 and I loved that eppy...they are due!

Though I actually enjoyed the "Seed" for the most part..nagging issues aside.

Welcome back and I hope it was relaxing (in between the bear invasions) and ack on the real life crazy! Good luck!

(I almost feel bad leaving this comment to add to your inbox...)

[identity profile] greyias.livejournal.com 2008-07-23 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay, you're back! Everything on the writing front sounds fantastic, so a big congrats on that! Day Job doesn't sound like too much fun, but I hope it gets better soon. I'm reading through the rest of the comments and can't help but laugh about the poor stick-beaten bear.

And, er, sorry about giving you another comment notification in your inbox. Whoops.

Glad to see you are back safe and sound.

I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Seed. I need to post my own thoughts on it. I just need to find the time to watch it again and put words to paper. (or would be words to keystrokes?)

I probably won't be doing a post on "Seed"; as well as being overwhelmed by RL, I was kinda lukewarm on the episode (there were parts I liked; it just wasn't one that made me stand up and squee, like the last one did). But I'll be looking forward to seeing what you thought about it!

[identity profile] flingslass.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Welcome back :D Do you mean I've seen an episode of SGA before you!
